We build the room the cinema goes into
A home cinema is two jobs. One is the audio-visual engineering — projector, sound, calibration, control. The other is the room itself: acoustic panelling, the riser, the ceiling detail, the carpet, the cabinetry and the seating. Platinum House does the second. We run a dedicated cinema workshop in Dubai Investment Park, shared with Platinum Vision, where the panelling, risers and seating for cinema rooms are built and upholstered — because a cinema room is joinery with acoustics to satisfy.
That matters more than it sounds. Most cinema rooms in Dubai villas are built by a general fit-out contractor, then the AV company arrives to install into whatever was constructed. Panels end up in the wrong places, the riser is the wrong depth for the seat pitch, and there is nowhere ventilated to put the rack. Drawing the room and the joinery together avoids all of it.
The fit-out, element by element
Acoustic wall panelling
Fabric-wrapped absorption where reflections need killing, and hard surfaces left where the room needs life. Panels are made as joinery — framed, wrapped and fitted like cabinetry, not stuck on afterwards — so the wall reads as a designed surface rather than a treatment. Frames conceal the cabling and the in-wall speakers behind acoustically transparent fabric.
The riser and sightlines
Two rows need a riser, and the height is set by seat pitch and screen size rather than by convention. We build risers in the workshop with the step, aisle lighting and cable routes already in them. Getting the riser wrong is the single most common and most expensive mistake in a cinema room — it cannot be adjusted once it is tiled or carpeted.
Ceiling and lighting detail
Coffers, cove lighting, star ceilings and the projector housing, all coordinated with the speaker layout so the two do not compete for the same space. Star ceilings are genuinely popular here and simple to build if planned early, awkward if not.
Carpet and soft finishes
Heavy carpet on the floor and treated fabric on the walls do a large part of the acoustic work. Choice of pile and underlay affects the room measurably, not just visually.
Cabinetry, doors and concealment
Equipment cabinets with ventilation designed in, acoustic door sets so sound does not carry into the rest of the villa, and joinery to hide everything that should not be seen. This is ordinary work for us — it is the same discipline as a fitted wardrobe.
Seating, upholstered in our own workshop
Made to the room, not ordered from a catalogue
Because we manufacture furniture, cinema seating can be built to the room’s dimensions and upholstered in the same leather or fabric as the rest of the interior. Row widths, arm widths and the depth of the back are set by the space available rather than by what a catalogue offers in fixed increments.
Recliners and motorised options
Manual or motorised recline, integrated cup holders, storage arms and reading lights, specified per row. Motorised seating needs power planned at the riser stage, which is another argument for drawing the seating and the fit-out at the same time.
Leather, fabric and what survives a UAE summer
Worth being specific about, because this is where imported specifications sometimes disappoint locally. Air conditioning runs almost year-round and dries leather; humidity spikes when doors open. We specify hides and treated fabrics that tolerate that cycle, and we can repair or reupholster later because the pieces were made in our own cinema workshop.

Our cinema workshop is in Dubai Investment Park, shared with Platinum Vision. Cinema seating and the room’s joinery are built and upholstered here, which removes the import lead time that usually governs a cinema programme — and means adjustments after you have sat in the room are a workshop visit rather than a new order from overseas.

Common questions
How much noise escapes into the rest of the villa?
Considerably less than most people expect, if it is planned. Acoustic door sets, isolated stud construction and attention to AC duct routing are what do it — duct noise is the most commonly overlooked path in UAE villas, because the AC has to run hard.
Can you fit out a basement or a garage?
Both are common and often the best rooms available, because they are naturally dark and away from living areas. Ceiling height and moisture management are the variables to check first.
How deep does a riser need to be?
It depends on seat pitch and recline travel — a reclining second row needs meaningfully more depth than a fixed one. We set it from the actual seat you choose rather than a standard figure.
Can you match the seating to our existing interior?
Yes — that is the advantage of making it. Bring a sample of the leather, fabric or timber used elsewhere in the villa and we will match to it.
How long does a cinema fit-out take?
Typically six to ten weeks from approved drawings for a dedicated room, depending on the finishes and whether AV installation runs in parallel. Local manufacture is what keeps that predictable.
