Most smart home disappointment in Dubai comes from sequencing, not from the equipment. The system is specified after the interior is built, so keypads land in awkward places, speaker positions are dictated by where a cable will fit, and a rack ends up in a cupboard that was never ventilated for it. Deciding all of that while the joinery is still a drawing costs nothing and changes the result completely.
What we integrate
Lighting and scenes
Dimmable circuits grouped the way rooms are actually used, controlled from a wall keypad, a phone or a voice assistant. One press for dining, another for evening, another for cleaning. In practice the wall keypad is what the household uses daily — the app is for guests and for when you are away.
Motorised blinds and curtains
Worth doing in the UAE for reasons that have nothing to do with novelty. West-facing glass turns a majlis into an oven by four in the afternoon; blinds that close on a schedule or a light sensor cut the solar gain before the air conditioning has to fight it. Tracks and pockets are built into the ceiling detail so no hardware is visible.
Climate and comfort
Thermostats that understand a villa rather than a room — pre-cooling bedrooms before the family comes home, holding back on wings nobody is using, and logging which zones actually cost you money through a Dubai summer.
Music through the house
Ceiling speakers, one source, independent volume per room. Flush trims chosen to match the ceiling finish, positions agreed with the lighting layout so the two do not argue with each other.
Entry, intercom and cameras
Gate and door entry answered from a screen inside or from a phone anywhere, with cameras recording locally. For most villas the useful part is not surveillance — it is letting a delivery or a driver in without walking to the gate.
Why it belongs in the joinery drawings
This is the part that is difficult to add later, and the reason we prefer to be involved early:
- Keypad and thermostat positions agreed against the cabinetry elevations, so nothing lands in the middle of a splashback or behind a door swing.
- Cable routes run through the carcass while it is being built — no surface trunking, no chased plaster.
- The equipment rack is designed into a wardrobe, utility room or under-stair void with ventilation planned for it, not squeezed in afterwards.
- Speaker and screen positions coordinated with lighting and joinery so ceilings stay clean.
- Power and data provision agreed before first fix, which is when it is still inexpensive.
Built for how UAE villas are actually lived in
A system specified for a European house does not translate directly. Summer here runs above 45°C, which makes cooling the dominant load and makes shading a comfort decision rather than a decorative one. Villas are larger and zoned differently, with a majlis that is used formally and family areas that are not. Households host late, often through Ramadan, and want the ground floor to behave differently from the bedrooms after ten at night. Dust and humidity decide where equipment can safely live. All of that is specification, not programming — and getting it wrong is expensive to undo.
How a project runs with us
- Survey and drawings. We measure, review the architectural and joinery drawings, and agree what is controlled in each room.
- Specification. A written schedule of what goes where, on which system, at a fixed price — before anything is ordered.
- First fix. Cabling and back-boxes installed alongside the joinery, coordinated with the other trades.
- Programming and handover. Scenes built around your routine, then walked through with whoever runs the house day to day.
- Support. Scenes get adjusted as habits change. That is normal, and it is included.

Common questions
Can you add this to a villa that is already finished?
Yes, and much of it is straightforward — wireless lighting, retrofit blinds and audio in accessible ceilings. What is harder is anything needing new cable through finished walls. We will tell you honestly which parts are sensible to retrofit and which are better left until you next renovate.
Do I have to do everything at once?
No. The sensible approach is to cable generously during the build and add functions over time. Cabling is the expensive part to revisit; equipment is not.
Will it still work if the internet goes down?
Lighting, blinds and climate should all work from the wall regardless of the internet — that is a specification decision we make deliberately. Remote access and streaming obviously need a connection.
Which is better — Crestron, Control4 or KNX?

Do you handle approvals?
We coordinate with your main contractor and the community or developer requirements as part of the fit-out. Anything requiring DEWA or authority sign-off is handled through the appointed contractor.
